Spotlight: Who are we at GI Free?

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.”

- Romans 12:10

Because our triune God has lived in community for eternity, we should understand that community is important for us believers. And that means that we need to recognize that each of us, made in the image of God, is of value and worthy of love. As the verse above and many others encourage us, we are to actively find ways to love one another.

How do I “show honor” to others in our community if we don’t know them? When we show up on Sundays, sing, listen to the sermon, and then return home how are we building community? Who is that person down the pew from me who is valued by God? How can I honor them?

With that in mind, we are taking one step by this series of features we are calling “Spotlight.” We all understand that the ultimate “spotlight” of our attentions should be focused on the one who makes us all community, Jesus. But if we are to thrive as a community and in our worship of God, we need to embrace how God makes different people with different backgrounds and different talents for his glory.

In the coming weeks, we will put the spotlight on a particular member of our community so we can appreciate how God works in different ways to build his body. Each Spotlight we will put a face to a name and help us to grow in appreciation of who God made us. It’s a good thing to be a part of God’s family, let’s get to know each other.
